How does
FoodChain Work?

Step 1 - Onboarding

Take a quick survey to estimate the availability, volume and frequency of your future food donations. If you’re a nonprofit, let us know what kinds of food you need and when you are available to pick it up. We’ll take care of the rest.

2-Matching

Step 2 - Matching

FoodChain users can find each other by location, availability, amount or type of food. Getters can subscribe for updates from specific Givers and get free food on a first-come-first-served basis. Givers can approach specific Getters or prioritize them according to their preferences, for example, if there’s a particular cause they want to support.

Step 3 - Reporting

FoodChain calculates the value of donations and generates receipts which qualify Givers for tax credits.

Documentation and user feedback are collected and added to the user profiles to give them the recognition they deserve, demonstrating social solidarity in the most transparent way possible.

4-Tracking

Our Story

FoodChain was born in Jerusalem in fall 2020. In between the lockdowns, we were fortunate to take part in an offline Arab-Jewish hackathon led by Together&Beyond, where we first teamed up. We ended up winning first place and used our award to build a prototype.

To continue this momentum, we joined the 50:50 Startups accelerator where we got acquainted with people and ideas that helped us focus on what matters. After winning the demo day competition, we received another grant to fund our MVP.

Nowadays, we are working with Google for Startups Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Program and with AtoBe Entrepreneurship Center to further develop our platform. We are looking for funding opportunities as well as partnerships and collaborations with any organization that wants to get involved.
